‘World’s Best’ for Fifth Year in a Row

UConn John Dempsey Hospital is a World’s Best Hospital for the fifth year in a row. The prestigious award from Newsweek and Statista is a result of quality metrics, recommendations from medical experts, and results from patient surveys.

With now a half a decade of receiving this designation, UConn John Dempsey Hospital continues to raise the bar for excellence in patient care and safety, and reinforces its reputation as a top-tier academic medical center.

“It’s an honor to, once again, receive this recognition from Newsweekour fifth award in a row,” said Dr. Andy Agwunobi, CEO of UConn Health and executive vice president for health affairs. “Year after year, we continue to set the highest standards for health care in Connecticut. This major achievement is a true testament to our excellence in patient care, and I’m incredibly proud of our entire UConn Health team for always going above and beyond.”

In 2022, UConn John Dempsey Hospital ranked 400th on the World’s Best Hospitals list. Today, UConn is ranked 275moving up from last year’s ranking of 297.

According to Newsweek, this year’s evaluation gives greater weight to hospital quality metrics, incorporates new accreditation, quality, safety and patient experience data across multiple countries and further elevates the role of Statista’s Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Implementation Survey (PROMs) through a higher weighting and revised Implementation Survey.
